  The first word of a line gives the year and month (YYMM) of that posting.

  A line of snns-mail.subjects looks like the following one:

  9802 SNNS Mailing List reopened

  9802 means that the mail was posted in February 1998.

  Thus you can search for a topic in the subjects and fetch the corresponding
  archive files snns-mail.YYMM. Send

    get filename

  to

    snns-mail-request@informatik.uni-tuebingen.de

  for receiving the file.
